In light of the new normal we are facing in today’s world, we at Lamar County Appraisal District are implementing ways to keep you as taxpayers safe. It is with this in mind that we are offering the following solutions during the protest process. This will help avoid congestion and long wait times in our office.
After examining your Notice of Appraised Value:
If the value appears correct, no action is required. If you have questions, you may call or email our office at 903-785-7822 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Informal Hearings will be conducted by appointment only
Protesting your 2021 Notice of Appraised Value
- Complete the Written Form on the back of the notice and place it in the Mail or LCAD Drop Box.
- Provide Accurate Contact information
- Provide Supporting Documentation
State Your Opinion Of Value
Fee Based or Bank Appraisal Estimates for Repair
Other Documentation relevant to the Protest
- Submit by the Deadline Listed on the Notice. File Early
Protest submitted by Fax or Email will NOT be accepted per ARB policy.
After a protest has been filed, a hearing will be scheduled with the Appraisal Review Board. In some cases, a protest may be resolved without the need of a formal hearing. If this is possible, an appraiser may contact you.

The Appraisal District is giving public notice of the capitalization rate to be used each year to appraise property receiving an exemption under Section 11.1825 of the Property Tax Code for Organizations Constructing or Rehabilitating Low-Income Housing: Property Not Previously Exempt.
2020 LOW INCOME HOUSING APARTMENT CAPITALIZATION RATE: 9.00% – 10.50%
In observance of Memorial Day our office will be closed Monday, May 31st and will reopen for regular business hours on Tuesday, June 1st.
